Technical Quality Manager

Hybrid role; working on our development sites, from one of our national offices

Role one based at One Strawberry Lane, Newcastle upon Tyne or Leeds

Role two based at Glasgow or Cumbria

Permanent, full time (37.5 hpw)

c£40,000 – £45,000 per annum (negotiable on experience) plus great benefits including Health Cash Plan plus car allowance of £4609 per annum based on mileage

We have a brilliant opportunity for you to join us as Technical Quality Manager, working as an integral part of our project team before and during the construction phase for our new homes programme.

You’ll manage the technical quality of our schemes for both either the North-East and Yorkshire Regions Or Scotland and the North-West Regions (depending on which role you apply for) with the option to base yourself from either our Newcastle or Leeds office OR Glasgow or Maryport office, working collaboratively with our Development and Delivery colleagues, advising on the technical and quality aspects of the design, specifications and standards, as well as carrying out regular inspections. Typical day as Technical Quality Manager

• Driving technical design and quality of our schemes through reviewing documentation and drawings as sufficiently describing the works and meeting Building Safety requirements, providing technical sign off where required.
• Managing inspections and reporting at key build stages (including up to handover and at the end of the defect liability period), referring to plans, photographing works, taking measurements and checking materials.
• Attending pre-construction site meetings and other technical project meetings to provide technical and quality input.
• Ensuring homes are delivered on time and programme risks managed, working closely with project teams, carrying out regular reviews on contractors’ progress of works against programmes and providing advice on handover dates and program risks.
• Regular monitoring and recording of inspections by Building Control and NHBC/Warranty, tracking issues raised and ensuring they are rectified. Supporting the teams to hold contractors to account for quality, workmanship and safety on our construction sites at all time.

You have:

• Experience of the full development process with a residential developer, contractor or consultant in the construction or housebuilding industry. You’ll have a good technical knowledge in identifying defects, snags and general construction quality in new homes.
• An up-to-date knowledge of regulations, codes and standards, including materials, trades, methods and legal requirements.
• Hold a relevant degree (or equivalent professional experience) alongside a professional accreditation such as RICS, CIOB, ICWCI, RIBA or equivalent or be working towards this.
• As safety is of paramount importance, a detailed understanding of Health & Safety regulations, with experience of ensuring sites and assets remain safe. You’ll hold, or be prepared to work toward, a site safety accreditation such as CSCS or equivalent.
• You’ll have a good eye for detail, be a great influencer, with a good understanding of the external environment and our place within it.

Job details:

• Full time, 37.5 hpw Monday to Friday (we’re open to agreeing a work pattern with you). If you need to nip out to walk the dog or do the school run, we’re ok with that too!
• This is a hybrid role, working on our development sites, from our office at either Newcastle Upon Tyne or Leeds (covering both North East and Yorkshire Regions) and from home.
• A full current driving licence and access to a vehicle for work, we’ll pay for your mileage.
