Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Our Fixed Gas Detection (FGD) team look after our customers who need permanently installed systems operating 24/7 to monitor a variety of gas risks. The FGD team’s remit includes initial site surveys, system design, installation, commissioning, handover and ongoing servicing and maintenance.
The role of the Field Service Engineer is to carry out regular maintenance / service / calibration visits as part of the on-going services and support we offer. The ability to travel within the UK is a key part of this role and overnight stays may sometimes be required.
The ideal candidate will be electrically/electronically competent and have experience in Fixed Gas Detection Systems. They will also enjoy the prospect of working out on numerous sites for the majority of the week as part of a team or independently as required. Training will be provided where required.
The Role reports to the FGD Business Development Manager and will involve the following:
– Preventative Maintenance Visits (PMVs) to existing FGD systems maintained by Shawcity.
– The servicing of portable gas & VOC devices on customers sites.
– Using initiative to identify additional customer requirements while working on site.
– Reviewing existing RAMS and Method Statements to ensure they are fit for application/job.
– Establishing productive, professional relationships with all key stakeholders.
– Working closely with other members of the FGD team, both field- and office-based.
– Liaising with the FGD Business Development Manager regarding relevant information on a regular basis.
– Liaising effectively with all departments within Shawcity, to ensure customer requirements are met.
– Supporting the success of the FGD team to meet company goals and targets
– Positively contributing to the team performance by sharing and implementing best practice ideas.
– Training other team members as appropriate.
– Undertaking any external training as required to enhance knowledge on FGD systems.
– Carrying out administrative tasks in a timely manner
– Carrying out additional duties as and when required
– Willingness to travel around the UK for work, with overnight stays as required.
This is a hands-on role and we are looking for a candidate who has the following attributes:
– Previous experience of fixed gas detection systems.
– Previous experience with working with live electrical systems.
– Strong verbal and written communication skills.
– A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel & Outlook.
– Ability to problem-solve and work independently.
– Good time management with a strong ability to plan travel time and routes.
– Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
– Motivated while always maintaining a high standard of work.
– The ability to multi-task, work under pressure and achieve deadlines.
– Outstanding attention to detail, always.
