Our client is a reputable specialist sub-contractor established over 19 years specialising in Single-Ply Flat Roofing and Rainscreen cladding. They pride themselves on delivering high-quality projects that meet the highest standards of design, innovation, and functionality. To support their growth, they are currently seeking a talented and experienced In-House SFS & Cladding Designer to join their Rotherham based team.

As a Cladding Draughtsman, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of solutions for construction projects. You will work closely with the client s estimating dept, operational team, clients, and architect to interpret architectural drawings and specifications, ensuring the successful execution of projects.

Are you the right person for the job?

• Proven experience as a Cladding Draughtsman, preferably within the construction industry
• Proficiency in interpreting architectural drawings and specifications
• Strong knowledge of various Rainscreen / Cladding and Sheeting systems, materials, and construction methods
• Proficiency in industry-standard design software, such as AutoCAD and Revit
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings
• Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and standards
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong commitment to quality

What will your role look like?

• Collaborate with our estimating dept to understand tender allowances and costed systems based on post tender handover
• liaise with architects, engineers, and project teams to develop innovative and efficient solutions that meet the project requirements, considering factors such as structural integrity, aesthetics, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness
• Review and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to understand the design intent, scope, and requirements related to Rainscreen / Cladding and Sheeting
• Evaluate different systems available in the market and recommend the most suitable systems based on project specifications, performance criteria, and client preferences
• Create detailed technical drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and construction details, using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) to illustrate the proposed designs
• Assist in the selection of appropriate materials for Rainscreen / Cladding and Sheeting, considering factors such as durability, performance, aesthetics, and compliance with building regulations
• Ensure that all designs adhere to relevant industry standards, building codes, regulations, and safety guidelines, while also considering environmental sustainability practices
• Collaborate effectively with our operations team, architects, client, subcontractors, and suppliers to coordinate design activities, resolve design-related issues, and ensure seamless integration of systems into the overall project
• Produce material schedules to enable our buying department to secure best price quotations
• Management & coordination of outsourced draughtsmen when workload dictates
