Design Surveyor Hybrid Office-based and various locations across the UK Full Time £30,000 per annum

Our client is a leading provider of cold storage and refrigeration solutions for retail environments. We specialise in refurbishing refrigerated cabinets, freezer cabinets, and cold rooms to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency. Their projects range from convenience stores to Supermarkets.

They are seeking a skilled Design Surveyor to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and experience in surveying refrigeration equipment is desirable.

This hybrid role involves both offices based and travelling to retail locations. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting surveys of refrigerated and freezer cabinets, preparing technical drawings, and producing comprehensive pick lists and handover packs to facilitate the refurbishment process. You will also support the Contract Manager and Delivery Managers by ensuring that drawing requirements are met and delivered on time.

Are you the right person for the job?

• Relevant technical or engineering qualifications are advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence required, as travel to various retail locations will be necessary.
• Previous experience in surveying refrigeration equipment or a related field is highly desirable. Familiarity with measuring and documenting technical specifications is essential.
• Understanding and interpret technical drawings, specifications.
• High level of accuracy in measurement and documentation. Ability to spot and address potential issues before they arise.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prepare clear and detailed reports and liaise effectively with team members and clients.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Competent in using computer software for documentation and report preparation (e.g., CAD systems, Microsoft Office Suite).
• Ability to work both remotely and travel to various retail locations as needed.

What will your role look like?

Key responsibilities

• Site Surveys: Conduct detailed surveys of refrigerated cabinets, freezer cabinets, and cold rooms components at retail stores. Assess the condition, dimensions, and specifications of existing equipment.
• Measurement and Documentation: Accurately measure and document the dimensions of refrigeration units componence and cold storage areas. Note any features or requirements specific to each location.
• Pick List Creation: Develop detailed pick lists specifying the parts and components needed for the refurbishment. Ensure that all necessary items in line with the scope of works are included to avoid any delays during the refurbishment process.
• Handover Pack Preparation: Compile and prepare handover packs for the Delivery Manager, including Site Audit detailing any limitations or restrictions, pick lists, and any additional information required for a smooth refurbishment.
• Technical Drawings: Follow specifications and calculations to create technical drawings. Prepare both rough sketches and detailed drawings using CAD systems. Ensure final drawings are checked prior to issue for manufacturing.
• Coordination and Support: Work closely with the refurbishment team to ensure they have all necessary parts and information. Address any issues or queries that arise during the refurbishment process. Own and catalogue all component drawings and lease with Suppliers as required.
• Design Review: Review and redraft drawings alongside the retail delivery team. Identify and communicate potential design problems to the delivery team, ensuring that all requests for changes are logged and annotated as required.
