My client is looking for a Commercial Underwriter to join their team.

Location: Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Salary: £34,000.00 pa

Work Environment: Hybrid working options are available (3 from home, 2 in the office following completion of your training period).

If successful, you will join a team of 5 Underwriters, sitting amongst a friendly office of 35 colleagues. You will be underwriting commercial insurance risks, negotiating rates, terms and conditions for new and existing business.

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver a compliant and excellent service to all Partner Brokers and where required clients, through all stages of their relationship with my client.
• Seeking opportunities to expand existing business or develop new business opportunities in support of business plans and its aim to be the complete broker
• Work effectively as a member of your team to deliver against personal or team targets for volume, income or quality measurements
• To ensure compliance with local procedures, customer service standards and external compliance regulations, e.g. FCA

You will also be or have:

• Commercial Insurance industry background – ideally including classes such as Employers Liability, Public Liability and Contractors Liability
• Experience in Delegated Authority or Schemes (preferable)
• Relevant qualifications (e.g Cert CII) or working towards (or the desire to)
• Be able to apply own judgement and experience when making decisions or giving advice to clients, including when to refer to an alternative appropriate expert
• Great customer service and communication skills with an excellent telephone manner, being able to build working relationships easily
• Attention to detail and proven ability to multi-task, updating relevant systems where necessary
• A good knowledge of Microsoft office and ideally experience of Acturis
