Job summary of Assistant Transformation Project Manager:
To work on the development and delivery of transformation projects (leading on smaller workstreams or projects) and support projects through to final implementation of change and handover to the business
Role requirements:
Scope, plan and implement workstreams or work packages as identified by the Programme Manager, using accredited project management principles. Coordinate the work of project teams as required
Support programme and project managers in designing and implementing project governance and controls to ensure effective delivery and maintain appropriate accountability
Ensure that financial savings and investments in projects are effectively identified, tracked, analysed and monitored.
Set up and facilitate project team meetings, workshops, working groups, etc in line with the needs of the project; engaging with staff, senior managers, and others as required
Develop and maintain high quality project management documentation including business cases, plans, RAID and decision logs in order to manage, monitor and report on progress.
Work within the Corporate PMO procedures and guidelines to ensure consistency and alignment to the overall council transformation programme, advising on improvements and supporting best practice
Actively manage project issues and risks, ensuring timely resolution and escalation where appropriate.
Knowledge and experience:
Knowledge of project and programme management tools and techniques these may include Waterfall, Agile and Theory of Change
Good knowledge of a range of quality, performance and project management tools and methodologies
Knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and related legislation and public policy, particularly as these relate to homeless prevention and housing options
Experience of initiating and leading projects
Has or is willing to pursue appropriate practitioner level qualifications in project and programme management (APM, Agile PM, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
Advanced IT skills in relation to some or all of the following packages Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project, Visio or other project tools
