Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Yard Operative/Trade Counter Assistant to join our client. The ideal candidate will have customer service experience, preferably within the builders merchants industry or a similar field. While a forklift license is an advantage, it is not essential. This role involves assisting customers, managing stock, and ensuring the efficient operation of the yard and trade counter.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist customers with their inquiries and provide knowledgeable advice on products.

Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by providing prompt and friendly service.

Process customer transactions accurately at the trade counter.

Stock Handling:

Receive, check, and store incoming stock deliveries.

Maintain accurate stock levels and conduct regular stock checks.

Handle stock processing, including picking and packing orders for customers.

Yard Operations:

Ensure the yard is organized, clean, and safe at all times.

Assist with loading and unloading goods, using manual handling techniques and forklift operations (if licensed).

General Duties:

Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth and efficient yard and trade counter operations.

Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.

Undertake any other duties as required to support the business.

Requirements:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Basic computer skills for processing transactions and managing inventory.

Qualifications:

Forklift license is an advantage but not essential.

Knowledge of health and safety practices in a yard or warehouse setting.
