Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Engineer to join our team on the M20 J8-9 Highways Project. This freelance position is initially for 3-6 months, with the possibility of extension based on project requirements and performance. The role operates inside IR35, ensuring compliance with UK tax regulations for off-payroll working.

Key Responsibilities:

• Site Management:
  • Oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with the project manager, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and effective communication and resolution of site issues.
• Surveying and Setting Out:
  • Perform accurate setting out and surveying duties, including the use of total stations, GPS, and other surveying equipment.
  • Verify the accuracy of plans, drawings, and quantities for alignment and elevation.
• Quality Control:
  • Monitor and ensure quality control of construction works, materials, and workmanship.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
• Health & Safety:
  • Implement and adhere to health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Report and address any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date site records, including daily diaries, site reports, and as-built drawings.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the project manager and client.
• Problem Solving:
  • Identify and resolve technical and operational issues on-site, liaising with design teams and subcontractors as necessary.
  • Propose and implement effective solutions to ensure project milestones are met.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Education:
  • Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer on major highways or infrastructure projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of highways construction processes, techniques, and standards.
• Skills:
  • Proficient in the use of surveying instruments and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Total Station, GPS).
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Certifications:
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • SMSTS/SSSTS certification is desirable.
