Our client is seeking a Shipping Document Controller to work for a 9-12 month contract – paid monthly by the client

Salary: £27,000- £30,000 pa pro rata

Location: Dartford

Hours: 37.5 per week between 8am and 5pm

No hybrid working but flex time available

Shipping Document Controller Job SummaryTo ensure that appropriate and accurate documentation is prepared and available to send to the customers or the bank with the documents stored in accordance with the current retention policy.

Shipping Document Controller skills and experience

• Good level of education – min GCSE level Maths and English
• Knowledge of different payment terms including Cash Against Documents and Letters of credit (desirable)
• Highly computer literate – MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
• Good communication skills – verbal and written
• Proactive
• High level of attention to detail

Shipping Document Controller responsibilities and duties

• Monitor despatches from the previous day to prioritise workload
• Track daily flight and vessel departures and work closely with 3rd party logistics company to ensure no documentation is late or incorrect
• Match up original documents to the relevant files. once completed send to Bank or the Customer
• Log the documentation processes on the Shipping Documents spreadsheet and monitoring each shipment to ensure that documents are not late
• Check all documentation received against the Packing Instructions, ensuring all documents are correct, with any errors being identified in a timely manner to avoid any delays to the customers.
• Monitor and check daily tracking numbers for all original documents and send to the Agent or customer
• Assist with all enquiries from Customers and Agents via email and telephone
• Investigate with Agents and Customers when amendments are requested to documentation and revise any documents if required
• Raise DHL shipment for all Open terms/CIA documentation
• Support Customer Care Co-ordinators with documentation related tasks
• Assist with Export Compliance for Countries in the Middle East and Africa
