Senior Estimator – Structural Steel Projects

Our client is seeking a talented professional to lead the charge in preparing accurate cost estimates and budgets for complex steel structures. In this pivotal role, you’ll collaborate with engineering, project management, and procurement teams to deliver comprehensive tender submissions, ensuring that every detail aligns with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately prepare cost estimates and budgets for large structural steel projects.
• Lead the development of comprehensive tender submissions for complex steel structures.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and procurement teams to ensure accurate project pricing.
• Review and analyze drawings, specifications, and contracts to assess project requirements.
• Manage and negotiate contracts, variations, and pricing with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
• Evaluate and mitigate project risks, ensuring that estimates align with project timelines and objectives.
• Oversee the handover of successful bids to the project execution teams.
• Stay updated on market rates, material costs, and industry trends within the steel construction sector.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 10 years’ estimating experience in a large structural steel company.
• Proven ability to estimate large-scale steel projects in sectors such as commercial, industrial, or infrastructure.
• Proficiency in estimating software and tools, as well as familiarity with relevant industry standards and contracts.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage client relationships and supplier agreements.
• Solid understanding of contract forms including NEC, JCT, or FIDIC.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior estimators as needed.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills for evaluating complex projects.
