BCAT is a small, but highly ambitious Academy Trust consisting of 3 schools, Barton Court Grammar School, The Charles Dickens School and the new free school, Barton Manor School.
Barton Court Grammar School (BCGS) is a state, selective, co-educational school with a strong reputation for its high academic standards and its caring and supportive ethos. The School is an accredited ‘Advanced Thinking School’ and is also the lead school of Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT). The Charles Dickens School (CDS) joined BCAT on 1 March 2017 and Barton Manor School, a free school which is a 5 form entry 11-18 non-selective school with a joint Sixth Form with BCGS is co-sited to BCGS and work on developing its multi-million-pound site has started with a planned opening in September 2022.
The Post
Required for Easter 2022 or sooner, the Governors wish to appoint a highly qualified and dynamic teacher of English. This is a part time role with a 0.8 FTE timetable.
This post offers an excellent opportunity to work in a successful and forward-thinking department and would suit an enthusiastic NQT or an experienced professional looking to further their expertise.
The School is looking for a committed individual who can offer outstanding teaching with the ability to teach up to A Level essential.

Information about the school
Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT) is a multi-academy Trust which was established in 2017.
It currently consists of two secondary schools: Barton Court Grammar School, an 11-18 years, mixed selective school in the heart of Canterbury, rated “Good” with many outstanding features by Ofsted in February 2020, and The Charles Dickens School, an 11-16 years mixed non-selective school in Broadstairs, which came out of special measures and is rated “Requires Improvement” by Ofsted in June 2019 and is a rapidly improving school. The Trust is also opening Barton Manor Free School, an 11 – 18 years non-selective mixed school in the heart of Canterbury on the former Chaucer School site in September 2022 to Year 7.
