Coatings Support Engineer
Job description
To ensure painted steel quality leaving subcontract treatment facilities meets the standards required. This will include liaising with all levels of leadership within our contractual chain as well as conducting coatings inspections and quality control audits at sub-contract treatment facilities, including the assessment of on-site painting works for client handover.
What skills, Qualifications & experience are required?
* To be responsible for own activities and those of the site painting team within own area of responsibility.
* To monitor and ensure procedures are adhered to for all activities of site painting operatives on agreed sites.
* To report shortages of plant, material and equipment to the relevant Site Manager in a safe and efficient manner.
* To ensure that subcontract painters are appropriately trained and competent to carry out the tasks required.
* To communicate regularly with all Construction and Coatings management and operational staff to ensure problems are reported & resolved.
* Report any issues and anomalies to the Construction Site Manager and Senior Coatings Inspector as soon as identified.
* Produce detailed site inspection reports and pass to the Site / Facility Manager copied to the Technical Manager.
* Monitor that all operatives are correctly using appropriate PPE.
* Assist the Site Painting Contractors in resolving problem areas, to help ensure the project runs smoothly.
* Ensure you and other site painting operatives in your area are fully equipped with the correct tools and products to do their job
* Responsible for implementing Company Health & Safety Policy in relation to the site procedures and works areas for which he or she operates. Ensure all Coatings tasks are assessed for risk and a safe system of work is in place prior to commencing work.
* To be the ‘first line of defence’ against inefficient or unsafe practices.Conduct quality control audits at sub-contract treatment facilities.
* Conduct coatings inspections on / off-site.
* Production of ITPs and method statements to cover coatings activities
* Participation in ongoing continuous improvement project teams
* 100% compliance to Company H&S procedures
* Production of reporting data to assist in the generation of weekly KPI data as required
* Ensure on site coating works are conducting in line with client handover / delivery schedules
* Monitor the delivery of steelwork to site and report any observations
* Ideally 5 years experience in the coatings or related industries
* Proven coatings competency skills and certification
* A good understanding of coating industry specifications
* A good understanding of all quality and process standards
* A good understanding of the use of coating inspection equipment
* Knowledge of coating application equipment
* A good Health and Safety awareness and experience
* IOSH Managing Safely
* ICATS Training
* ICorr/Nace Inspection Qualification (ideally at least Nace level 2)

Basic Pay: £35000 to £50000
Duration of the work:perm
Location: Based around London you will be covering the london sites, you must live locally to london as this a home based role, you will need to travel to there nottingham site from time to time
