My client, a well-established, award winning civil engineering contractor based in Kent are looking for a pro-active, keen and experienced Estimator to join their team.

The role will suit someone ideally with a Project civil engineering background background and with extensive understanding in the construction industry. A candidate with relationships within the industry would be ideal as this could assist in the role. Ownership of this role is a must as due to the strategic growth of the business, the process and procedure implemented by the estimator will ensure smooth execution of projects moving forward.

As a specialist in the civil & infrastructure sector, this contractor’s portfolio includes pipelines, drainage, roads, water, earthworks, demolition and concrete works. Depending on the project they work as both main contractor and in joint ventures, allowing them to work on a wide scope of projects.

As Estimator you will work closely with the senior management team strategically planning the workload ahead as well as working on numerous tenders. You will be responsible for creating method statements, risk assessments and tender programmes and documents whilst at the same time liaising with designers, clients and subcontractors where appropriate. Estimators with backgrounds in engineering or quantity surveying will be considered for the position. Other desirable attributes include;

A degree or equivalent industry related qualification
A minimum of 2 years in the civil sector with at least half in an estimating role
Must have priced works up to the values of £2m in this sector
Experience in a wide range of civil disciplines (see above)
Cost management experience
Experience preparing BQQ’s & Take off’s
Experienced with estimating software
A proven track record of successfully winning projects
Excellent organisation and communication skills
