John Charles Search is currently working with a renowned leader in automated material handling systems operating out of the UK. Our client specialises in delivering tailored material handling solutions encompassing sorting technology, automated storage and retrieval systems, controls, warehouse management systems, and IT integration.

Salary:

• £60,000 p/a DOE

Purpose of the Role:

As an integral part of our client s operation, this role entails spearheading the technical development of warehouse automation solutions and guiding projects from inception to fruition. You will be responsible for crafting PLC code and associated processes from the ground up, collaborating with our in-house electrical design engineers during the design phase, and leading the final commissioning process to handover at client sites across the UK, occasionally extending to Europe or international locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ideal for a PLC commissioning engineer proficient in Siemens and Allen Bradley platforms utilising Step 7 / TIA Portal / Logix5000 packages.
• Prior experience with conveyor systems and warehouse ASRS systems is advantageous.
• Familiarity with barcoding and interaction with WCS/WMS systems, along with knowledge of networks such as Asi, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet IP, etc., would be beneficial.
• Development of PLC code and associated processes from scratch.
• Incorporation standard functions into PLC code.
• Leading final commissioning to the handover stage.
• A proficient understanding of electrical schematic drawings and electrical safety circuits is essential.

Personal Attributes:

• Preference for candidates with experience in logistics warehousing, distribution centres, or fulfilment operations.
• Strong grasp of warehouse design principles and material handling equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to devise creative and innovative customer solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Methodical, precise, and capable of working independently.
• Reliability, teamwork mindset, self-initiative, and dedication to customer satisfaction.
