Assistant Accountant

CMA is delighted to be partnering with a specialist retail business in Andover, Hampshire on a temporary basis with the possibility of permanent employment for the right candidate at the end of the term. The business is looking for an experienced accounts professional to assist with the day to day running within a close knit team of a business that still has a family feel.

What will the Assistant Accountant role involve:

• All purchaser transactions;
• Setting up new suppliers.
• Supplier invoices posting/raising and setting up new;
• Staff expenses;
• Reconciliation VAT quarterly/bank and balance sheet;
• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts;
• Ability to interpret, challenge and analyse variances in the management accounts;
• Posting accruals and prepayment journals;
• Close monthly and yearly nominal ledgers;
• Promote and drive strong relationships with the purchasing team as well as the rest of the business;
• Recommend operational improvements;
• Delivering intercompany reports;
• Assist in month-end analysis and commentary;
• Maintain financial control ensuring compliance.

• Assist in preparation of annual budgets;
• Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive best practices and process efficiencies;

Suitable Candidate for the Assistant Accountant vacancy:

• Experience working with business finance team;
• Strong attention to detail;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Evidence of building and maintaining strong relationships with key business stakeholders;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Excel;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• AAT desirable.

Additional benefits and information for the role of:

• An hourly rate of £12 – £15ph depending on experience;
• Free onsite parking;
• Possibility of going permanent within 4 8 weeks;
• Office based role Monday Friday;
• 8am 5pm with 30 minutes unpaid lunchbreak.
